Report from the ISO Board Meeting, May 1st, 2010. The Board meeting was this year held at Kristian Wegscheider’s summer house in Ahrenshop at the Baltic Sea coast where the Board members were very well accommodated. As always, Kristian created a very good atmosphere, greatly appreciated by the Board members. A very windy and wet sailing with an old wooden fishing boat on the Boddensee added a touch of adventure to the meeting. The Board was happy to welcome the newly appointed Board member Simon Hebeisen from Orgelbau Goll, Switzerland who replaces Philipp Klais who has decided to step down as appointed member of the Board. The Mailman discussion forum on the Internet for ISO members has worked very well during the year and triggered many interesting questions and discussions among members. A further possibility is now being worked out to make it possible to add attachments to the mailman messages. Messages containing attachments will be monitored by our web master before being sent out to the members, this in order to avoid spammers to find their way into our forum. To make this work, it is important to keep all e-mail addresses up to date. If you change your e-mail address, please do not forget to send a notice to the Secretary so we can keep in touch with you. The Treasurer reported that the accounts of the ISO for 2009 gives a gain of 5 519,83 Euro, also taking into account the still non paid membership dues. If you have not yet paid your dues, please do so as soon as possible, the activities of ISO are dependant on all contributions. If you would have lost your invoice, please get in touch with the Treasurer Guido Schumacher. Two firms were accepted as new members of ISO: Grant Smalley Pipe Organs, Canada and Gerhard Biller Orgelbau, Germany There has recently been one honorary member of ISO who has passed away: Lina Rensch, Germany She was honoured with a moment of silence. The work with the ISO Journal by the new Editor Klaus Rensch has worked very well, he gave a report that he has now made four issues. The possibility of having the entire Journal in colour was discussed and will be investigated. It will also soon be possible to subscribe to the Journal and pay with credit card on the ISO web site. The ISO Journal depends on the input of material from all of you, so if you have anything you would like to share with your colleagues and the organ world, please do not hesitate to contact the Editor Klaus Rensch. There are a number of suggestions for workshops which are being developed at the moment. You will receive information about these in due course. Catarina Grönlund has worked on the issue about consultants, and this was discussed at the meeting. It was decided that the President will address the matter on his page in the ISO Journal. For the elections at the next general meeting in Montreal, the Board decided to nominate the following persons: John Mander for President; Catarina Grönlund, Simon Hebeisen and Didier Grassin for Vice Presidents; Guido Schumacher for Treasurer. If you wish to make further nominations, please contact the Secretary. A possible statement about preservation of historic organs was discussed, and a draft will be presented to the General Meeting in August. The Board was updated on the planning of the Congress in Montreal, please don’t forget to register if you plan to participate. Mai 2010 Die Vorstandssitzung fand dieses Jahr in Kristian Wegscheiders Ferienhaus in Ahrenshoop an der Ostsee statt, wo die Vorstandsmitglieder gut untergebracht waren. Wie immer sorgte Kristian Wegscheider für eine gute Stimmung, was von den Vorstandsmitgliedern sehr begrüßt wurde. Eine sehr windige und nasse Segeltour mit einem alten Fischerboot aus Holz auf dem Bodden verlieh dem Treffen einen Hauch von Abenteuer. Der Vorstand freute sich, Simon Hebeisen von der Firma Orgelbau Goll, Schweiz, als neu ernanntes Vorstandsmitglied begrüßen zu dürfen. Simon Hebeisen ersetzt Philipp Klais, der als ernanntes Vorstandsmitglied zurückgetreten ist. Das Mailman-Diskussionsforum im Internet für ISO-Mitglieder funktionierte im vergangenen Jahr sehr gut und hat zu vielen interessanten Fragen und Diskussionen unter den Mitgliedern geführt. Als weitere Möglichkeit sollen nun auch Anhänge an die Mailman-Nachrichten möglich sein. Nachrichten, die Anhänge enthalten werden von unserem Webmaster überprüft, bevor sie an die Mitglieder weitergeschickt werden; dies geschieht, um Spam zu verhindern. Damit das Forum auch weiterhin funktioniert, ist es wichtig, alle E-Mail-Adressen auf dem neuesten Stand zu halten. Wenn sich Ihre E-Mail-Adresse ändert, denken Sie bitte daran, dem Sekretariat eine Nachricht zu schicken, damit wir mit Ihnen in Kontakt bleiben können. Der Schatzmeister berichtete, dass die ISO für 2009 einen Gewinn von 5.519,83 EUR verzeichnen konnte, einschließlich der noch nicht bezahlten Mitgliedsbeiträge. Bald wird es auch möglich sein, das Journal über die Internetseite der ISO zu abonnieren und mit Kreditkarte zu bezahlen. Das ISO-Journal ist auf Beiträge von allen Mitgliedern angewiesen. Wenn Sie also Ihren Kollegen und der Orgelwelt ein Thema nahebringen möchten, können Sie sich gerne an den Redakteur, Klaus Rensch, wenden. Workshops zu vorgeschlagenen Themen werden im Moment erarbeitet. Informationen dazu erhalten Sie rechtzeitig. Catarina Grönlund hat sich mit dem Thema "Sachverständige" beschäftigt; darüber wurde in der Sitzung gesprochen. Es wurde beschlossen, dass der Präsident das Thema auf seiner Seite im ISO-Journal zur Sprache bringt. Für die Wahlen bei der nächsten Hauptversammlung in Montreal, beschloss der Vorstand die folgenden Personen zu nominieren: John Mander als Präsident, Catarina Grönlund, Simon Hebeisen und Didier Grassin als Vizepräsidenten, Guido Schumacher als Schatzmeister. Wenn Sie weitere Kandidaten zur Nominierung vorschlagen möchten, kontaktieren Sie bitte den Sekretär. Eine mögliche Stellungnahme zur Erhaltung historischer Orgeln wurde erörtert. Lidingö, Juni 2010 Göran Grahn Compte rendu de la réunion du Conseil d'administration de l'ISO, 1er mai 2010 La réunion du Conseil d'administration s'est déroulée cette année dans la maison de vacances de Kristian Wegscheider à Ahrenshoop, sur la côte baltique, où les membres du Conseil d'administration étaient très bien logés. Comme toujours, Kristian Wegscheider s'est chargé de faire régner une bonne ambiance, ce qui a été très apprécié par les membres du Conseil d'administration. Un tour de voile très humide par vent fort dans les lagunes sur un vieux bâteau de pêche en bois a ajouté une touche d'aventure au rassemblement. Le Conseil d'administration était heureux d'accueillir dans ses rangs un nouveau membre fraîchement nommé, Simon Hebeisen de la manufacture Orgelbau Goll en Suisse. Simon Hebeisen remplace Philipp Klais, qui a renoncé à ses fonctions de membre désigné du Conseil d'administration. Le forum de discussion sur Internet pour les membres de l'ISO a très bien fonctionné l'année passée et a donné lieu à de nombreuses questions et discussions intéressantes entre les membres. Une nouvelle fonctionnalité est actuellement mise en place pour permettre d'ajouter des pièces jointes aux messages du forum. Les messages comprenant des pièces jointes seront contrôlés par notre webmaster avant d'être envoyés aux membres ; ceci afin d'éviter les spams. Afin que le forum puisse continuer à fonctionner, il est important que toutes les adresses e-mail soient à jour. Si vous changez d'adresse e-mail, merci de penser à envoyer un message au secrétariat afin que nous puissions rester en contact avec vous. Organs in Lithuania ISO member Rimantas Gucas in Lithuania has worked since the 1960:s with a complete catalogue of organs in Lithuania. His work has now been published as a book which can be purchased directly from him. The book has a foreword in Lithuanian, German and English and contains specifications of all the organs together with many pictures. To order a copy of this book, write an e-mail to gucas(at)takas.lt and give your name and address, and he will send you a copy together with an invoice. The price is 38:- Euros plus 6-12 Euros postage, depending on country. Liebe ISO-Mitglieder, da wir Sie über die Arbeit des Vorstandes und die geplanten Aktivitäten informieren möchten, im Folgenden der Bericht über die Sitzung des ISO-Vorstandes am 9. Mai 2009. Wenn Sie Vorschläge oder Ideen bezüglich unserer Arbeit haben, können Sie uns diese gerne mitteilen. Die Vorstandssitzung wurde dieses Jahr im Sekretariat in Lidingö, Schweden abgehalten. Die Vorstandsmitglieder waren dort auch untergebracht, um Kosten für die ISO zu sparen. Dadurch entstand eine sehr gute Stimmung und die Vorstandsmitglieder begrüßten dies sehr. Das neue Diskussionsforum im Internet für ISO-Mitglieder funktioniert sehr gut und hat bereits zu interessanten Fragen und Diskussionen geführt. Damit dies auch weiterhin funktioniert, ist es wichtig, alle E-Mail-Adressen auf dem neuesten Stand zu halten. Catarina Grönlund hat eine Liste mit Orgelsachverständigen aus verschiedenen Ländern erstellt, um mit ihnen in Kontakt zu treten und ihnen das Abonnement des ISO-Journals anzubieten. Es wurde auch der Vorschlag gemacht, einige von ihnen um ein Interview für das Journal zu bitten. Dies alles mit dem Zweck Möglichkeiten für eine gute Zusammenarbeit zur Förderung der Pfeifenorgel zu finden. Der Vorstand hat beschlossen, eine begrenzte Anzahl Journalisten bekannter Orgel-Publikationen zum nächsten Kongress einzuladen, damit sie von den Veranstaltungen berichten und die Orgelwelt über die Arbeit der ISO informieren. Es wurde der Vorschlag gemacht, einen Leitfaden für Käufer einer neuen Orgel zu erstellen, über Ablauf, Auswahl des Anbieters, Planung usw. Der Vorstand wird weiter an diesem Thema arbeiten und den Leitfaden dann auf der Internetseite der ISO veröffentlichen. Der nächste Kongress findet in Montreal, Kanada statt, zusammen mit der AIO (American Institute of Organbuilders) und einer Ausstellung der Zulieferer. Viele Kollegen sind an der Vorbereitung dieser außergewöhnlichen Veranstaltung beteiligt, der Vorstand dankt ihnen bereits im Voraus für ihr Engagement. Le Conseil d'administration a décidé d'inviter au prochain congrès un nombre limité de journalistes participant à d'importantes publications sur les orgues, afin que ceux-ci informent le monde de l'orgue des activités et du travail de l'ISO. Il a été suggéré de mettre au point un guide pour ceux qui envisagent d'acheter un nouvel orgue, pour leur indiquer comment procéder, comment choisir le fournisseur, comment s'organiser, etc. Le Conseil d'administration va travailler sur le sujet pour pouvoir publier ce guide ultérieurement sur le site Internet de l'ISO. Le prochain congrès aura lieu à Montréal, au Canada, en partenariat avec l'AIO (American Institute of Organbuilders). Une exposition de fournisseurs sera organisée. Catarina Grönlund has been compiling a list of organ consultants in different countries to be able to be in contact with them and to invite them subscribe to the ISO Journal. There was also a suggestion that some of them would be interviewed for the Journal, all this in order to find good ways of cooperation for the promotion of the pipe organ. The Board decided to invite a limited number of journalists from important organ publications to participate in the next Congress to report from the activities and to inform the organ world about the work of ISO. There was a suggestion to work out guidelines for those who consider buying a new organ, how to proceed, competition, planning etc. The Board will work further on this matter in order to publish those guidelines on the ISO web page. The next Congress will be held in Montreal, Canada jointly with AIO,( The American Institute Of Organbuilders), and with an exhibition of suppliers. You can find more information on the ISO web page. A great number of colleagues are working with the organisation of this exceptional event, the Board expresses many thanks in advance for their efforts.
